ABC Glofox is an Irish company that offers a gym management platform and was acquired by the American group ABC Fitness. With over 40 years in the market, the ABC group provides various technology solutions for the fitness segment in different countries and is led by executives who understand the importance of data analysis for professional management.
Glofox is a company with over 30,000 gyms in its database. Its systems process data from approximately 1.5 million clients in 40 countries.
By hiring equal BI, the main objective of ABC Glofox was to enhance the Business Intelligence solution within the system sold to gym managers. This way, Glofox clients can access dashboards with key indicators and guide strategic decisions based on data.
The BI feature within Glofox's management system was also enhanced as a way to create a new revenue stream for the Irish company. This functionality enables upselling on existing plans and improves client retention within the customer base.
The equal team started the project by studying ABC Glofox's databases and then integrating dashboard models already used by other companies within the ABC Fitness group into the platform. Initially, dashboard creation was part of the work, while data engineering was the responsibility of Glofox's internal BI team.
The first deliveries were completed within two months of the project. Over time, as the volume of data processed was quite significant, the infrastructure proposed by Glofox for engineering was no longer sufficient. In response, equal specialists provided support in organizing the new data infrastructure.
The dashboards developed by equal are being made available to Glofox clients who subscribe to the platform’s customized solution. The panels created by our team serve clients with over 2,000 gym units and operate globally, including accommodating different time zones.
Among the indicators included in the dashboards are: revenue trends for gyms, student occupancy in classes, and class effectiveness to measure engagement and retention.
We can highlight the main tools and technologies used in the project: Fabric and Power BI, Microsoft solutions for data engineering and business intelligence; Apache Spark, a large-scale data processing platform designed for fast and efficient distributed data processing; and Python, a high-level programming language known for its simplicity, readability, and versatility.
“You are not just a team or a company that delivers Power BI dashboards, but also good listeners, willing to learn mutually. This is great because it shows that you don’t follow a rigid script but are open to adapting and considering other options based on feedback. This collaboration is something amazing to see.”
